Getting Ready for Baby ! Pre-pregnancy & Fertility Detox

Updated: May 5

ree

If you are ready to begin your journey to pregnancy, I recommend going through a preconception detox. This not only increases your chances of getting pregnant but also provides a healthy start for your future little one.

Recent studies show that the number of children with chronic illnesses (such as allergies, asthma, eczema, autoimmune diseases, and autism) is rising, which is linked to mothers' exposure to environmental toxins before and during pregnancy. Babies are born with toxins because harmful chemicals and pollutants are transmitted through the umbilical cord.

It is also noted that a mother with a too high toxic burden (whether physical, emotional, or energetic), it can make it difficult for her to conceive, as she may not be "fit enough" to become pregnant and/or maintain the pregnancy.

what you can do:

  • About 3 months or before conception, you may start a deep cleanse to release some toxins you have been accumulated in your body as the process of egg production (oogenesis) and sperm production (spermatogenesis) are starting way before conception! Also, we would like the detox process to be completed before pregnancy as during the detox, the toxins are released in the mother’s system before being excreted and we understand that the fetus is very sensitive to toxins passing through the umbilical cord.

  • 1 to 3 months before conception, start adjusting your dietary habits by reducing the intake of spicy and fried foods. You might also consider taking a multivitamin supplement or folic acid, which is essential for reducing the risk of neural tube defects in the embryo. Consulting with a professional nutritionist can be helpful in this process.

  • Eat organically as much as you can (especially the dirty dozen vegetables on the published list). Watch out for any kind of toxins in your environment (beauty products, cleaning products, quality of water…).

  • Look for nutrient deficiency and balance your diet appropriately: a diet with too high sugar, not enough quality fat or protein is not advised before and during pregnancy, as these essential nutrients provide the right building blocks to build healthy hormones, and everything the baby needs.

  • Workout with your doctor about how you can minimize your medication exposure.

  • Minimize your level of stress as cortisol can interfere with your fertility and the development of your baby. If it is possible, resolve with your close relationships any pending emotional issues, conflicts of interests, unaligned agendas, traumas,…; there is no scientific research really on this so you may have to believe my clinical experience that unprocessed negative emotions can potentially prevent you from having a successful pregnancy journey.
